ABOUT CITY BEE SAVERS

A Sustainable Beekeeping Resource for Chicagoland

HONEY BEES AND HONEY

We primarily raise local survivor honey bee queens for Chicagoland beekeepers. We produce these survivor queens from honey bee colonies we find during the summer from our honey bee removal business. It takes a lot of healthy honey bees to raise queens. Healthy honey bees make lots of great honey. You can purchase this local raw honey here on our website, or call us to arrange an order pickup.

WASPS, HORNETS, AND HONEY BEE REMOVAL

Honey bees are not typically an aggressive insect. They really aren't interested in attacking people. Wasps and hornets, on the other hand, aren't so chill. If you believe you have a wasp or bee issue, please call - we can help you. We'll ask you to send us a couple of photos; one picture of the insect you are encountering, and another of the area from ground to nest entrance, so we can know what equipment is necessary.

MEET BILL WHITNEY

Bill Whitney, the owner of City Bee Savers, has kept honey bees for over 29 years. We are a small honey bee farm that is deeply concerned for the future of these magnificent creatures. The vulnerability of the bees prompted Bill to become a certified member of the Illinois queen rearing initiative. This group is developing a superior honey bee suited for the rigors of Illinois. Bill can be found talking to garden clubs about planting for pollinators, teaching beekeeping classes in the community centers, removing honey bees from homes, and mentoring families as they learn to care for their bees. He has a wealth of knowledge and would love to share what he knows with you!

You can reach Bill at 630-660-9846. He receives many calls during the summer, so it might take him a few hours. Be patient, and he will get back with you as soon as he can!

OUR BEE BUDDY PROGRAM!
